Women are as second class citizens in the developing world.  In most cases, a lack of education keeps women in poverty and in poor health.  The education and health of the mother impacts the health and future of the entire family.  In developing countries women have lower literacy levels than men and have completed less school then their male counterparts.  With women being the primary caretakers in the home it is important to improve their health and education to improve the health of all in developing countries.
