With Haiti’s infrastructure destroyed, the school systems are not operating.  Before the earthquake Haiti had a school dropout rate of 65 percent with few people completing a full education.  This lack of education has caused the country to slip into extreme poverty.  The average person barely makes enough money to support themselves.  After the earthquake, education will slip into nonexistence until the infrastructure can be rebuilt.  Boys will return back to school before girls and the thousands of orphans will never return to school with out someone making them go there.  It is really sad that a country with so many problems has now been pushed further into poverty and a hole they will not be able to recover from.  Education must be one emphasis of the rebuilding efforts, the future of Haiti depends on the success of the education system.  It needs to be improved and not only rebuilt.
